Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Frost on the Moon

It was Imbolc a couple of weeks ago and it was a very frosty night with a full moon. Imbolc is a holiday with a variety of names, depending on which culture and location you’re looking at. In the Irish Gaelic, it’s called Oimelc, which translates to “ewe’s milk.” It’s a precursor to the end of winter when the ewes are nursing their newly born lambs. Spring and the planting season are right around the corner.

I was inspired to use more of the Aventurine as it reminded me of the night sky and to team it this time with 12mm bead cages and stardust beads. The bead cages are fiddly but I think they are worth the effort.

Fair Isle

I used baby crofter yarn for the first time to make a little cardi for Lizzie. I like the fairisle effect but another time I would buy more than I need to match up the fronts and sleeves better. This little cardi took 3 balls.

Winter Frost

The whole of Europe is covered in frost and snow but on the edge we are escaping lightly. I was inspired to use my stardust beads and in these necklaces I have used the 2 strand weave with the 6mm stardust beads to bring the strands together. Not sure if I like the grey or the blue pearls best?

Inspired by Lanzarotte

When we were in Lanzarote there was lava rock jewellery for sale everywhere. It made me think about how to use it and I decided to stick with a very simple formula. This necklace is made with 6mm silver stardust beads as spacers and I think it sets off the black perfectly.  I think I will make more monochrome jewellery.

Hot, hot, hot

It has been very cold across Europe so I thought I would order some fire agate to warm me up. I made a very simple necklace using the agate and moonstones. It has done the trick as it is not so cold here and we have had some lovely bright sunny days.
