Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Thank you Mum

After all the grief and tears over the last weeks Mum has made us ROAR with laughter.

Last year she asked me to get her wool and a pattern for an aran waistcoat. I resisted as I knew that it would be too complicated and I would have to knit it. I finally gave in and bought the "cherry red" wool and sure enough a few weeks later it came to me to knit. How I hated that jumper! I must have ripped it dozens of times as I kept going wrong. I was going to leave some of the tiny mistakes but I knew full well that she would spot them. It finally got finished and she was very pleased with it. So pleased that she entered it into the local show as HER work where it won first prize. The first we knew was when they came to the door last night with the prize money. Breda managed to keep a straight face but how we roared with laughter after they had gone. The money is going to be spent on a "cherry red" rose bush for the garden and I am sure it will give us lots of smiles.
Thanks for being the greatest Mum

Summer Sky

I fell in love with the colour of this wool in a shop in Spain. The hem of this pattern is really sweet. Hope Lizzie likes wearing it.

New treasure

What will I make with these gorgeous beads? Pearls, amazonite, amathest chunks and fire agate.

Old Shale Scarf

I found 4 balls of Sirdar bamboo in a sale bin so decided to do a stripy scarf. I used an old favourite pattern. the only trouble is that I know it too well and don't concentrate so I spend a lot of time ripping it out.

Workshop in Killarney with Amelie Gagne

Amelie is a great teacher and we had fun using different brushes to create texture. Wish I could paint like she does! You can check out her work at http://www.ameliegallery.com/

Sherkin Sunset

When I went to Sherkin last it was misty with a fine rain but I used my imagination to  paint this picture. Paul challenged me to paint a seascape without using turquoise, blue or purple. I cheated! Had to use the purple. Donal has taken it home to hang on his wall.

12 hours sewing

Kevin and I spent 12 hours sewing bones on a skeleton costume for Katie (Kevin did 8 hours while watching cricket). She had originally ironed them on with velcro but they came off when she started dancing. Doesn't she look scarry!

Dudley & Russell Hobbs

I can't claim the credit for these two fine fellas. They were made by my friend Joan. I did find the knitting instructions and video tutorials for things like toe up casting on and sat and read out the instructions while she mastered jiggerless stripes. Well done Joan!
