Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Harvest Moon

The huge moon again this month inspired me to use moonstone. I love the milky glow of this stone. I have used it here as small stones in between multi coloured cracked agate. The dark blue are my favourite as they remind me of the night sky. I am going to keep this one for me and it will remind me of a blissful evening sitting (outside!) in Glebe Gardens listening to the wonderful Julie Feeney.

Au Natural

Some stones are too lovely to do anything with and here is an example. I used small polished grey labradorite with chunks of unpolished labradorite.

A West Cork Day

It was a wonderful sunny morning so I dragged himself out to Bantry House for the Cork Craft Month Fair. I wanted to see the new work by Hilary Nunan who is one of my favourite Irish artists. Her partner had made some stools using recycled Irish timber and I treated myself. I just love the honesty of this stool and I know it will bring me pleasure for many years to come. We then went on to Akhista for lunch in Arundels. The sun was shining and the sea was sparkling so I couldn't resist taking a photo of my stool and here it is.

Happy Birthday

My lovely Sis borrowed some pearls to go to a wedding last weekend. It is her birthday very soon so I made this pearl necklace for her. I used three stands of illusion beading thread and did a weaved effect. I hope she likes it.

Seashells, seashells on the sea shore

I saw someone wearing these glass balls with dried flowers in them and I was inspired to get hold of some and play. The holes in the balls are 10mm so I decided to use some very small sea shells and some tiny pearls. I glued some 18mm spacer beads over the holes and used a head pin to connect the pendant to the wire. I used silver lined seed beads and freshwater pearls for the necklace and finished the pendant off with some more pearls. I am very pleased with the end result.  It takes quite a long time to make as it is fiddly but it  looks very delicate.

Purple Passion

I bid for a gorgeous chunk of purple agate in a silver pendant on ebay. I looked at it for some time before deciding to use if with some amethyst beads that I had in my stash. Next time I think I will put the clasp to the front and attach the pendant to the clasp. This one is for me!

Watermelons

I bought some watermelon agate and had a play with the different colours. Here is what I created.

Beneath the Ocean

Sheena at Lammingtonlass Yarns dyed this yarn to my specifications. She added the silver sparkle as I wanted to knit socks that reminded me of the sea in Roaring Water Bay on a sparkling summer day. The two skeins are slightly different colours so I had to have both. Which will Kevin choose for his socks?

Blue Hydranga

Ryan is going off to London in a few weeks. The winters are cold there so I made him a warm pair of socks. They had to be the colours of blue hydrangas so every time he looks at them he will remember his Grandad who is watching over him.

Sale Time!

My favourite felt maker Kate Ramsey of Fabulous Felt had a sale on so I couldn't resist this scarf. I love the way you slot the ends through the holes to hold it in place. Favourite colours too!

Thanks Auntie Flo

I am still using the buttons I was given by Joan and John. I managed to find enough red buttons for this little cardigan. I think Great Aunt Florence would be happy to see them being used but I am not sure what she would think of the colour combination!
