Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Mum would be proud

Mum tried many times to teach my sister and I how to make soda bread. We both failed miserably. Breda has now found a recipe that tastes as good as it looks. It is great with smoked salmon.

Time 45 mins
2lb loaf tin (if you are not sure what size yours is a 2lb one takes 3 pints of water)

240grms plain flour
30 grms bran
30grms wheat germ
30grms porridge oats
30grms sugar
A quarter teaspoon salt
One and a half teaspoons breadsoda
1 egg
Half a litre of butter milk

Mix all dry ingredients together. Add egg and buttermilk. the mix will be fairly sloppy. Bake for 45 mins.

Grow Happy

The theme for the library window in May was "Grow Happy" and our knitting group knitted a garden. Lots of lovely vegetables, flowers, butterflies and other insects. We have a few workers too. The Domestic Goddess and I knitted the hedgehogs which we called Harry and Harriet. I sewed Harry's nose on upside down and was going to leave it like that until little Sam convinced me that it would look better the other way. up. He was right.

Our next project is The Sea so watch this space!

Purple Tulips

The scarf that I knitted for my sister was finished at the same time as my tulips came out so I couldn't resist photographing them together. The scarf is made in the Prism Delicato tencel yarn and this colour is called Merlot. I love knitting with it even though it takes a very long time to do this scarf.

I think I will use the Fog colourway next.

Blue Remembered Hills

I took a photo of my Dad's homeplace. Knockgorm is a very special place. I have used the photo of the old house recently in a photo book and my cousins wanted a copy. I thought I would have a play with it on my new Photoshop Elements package and here is the result. Click on the photos to see the full view. Will I paint it now?
