Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Inspiration

We had a wonderful few days in Dingle and had Inch Strand all to ourselves. The light was fantastic and I managed to get some great photos. Will I ever be brave enough to try to paint this?

Purple Alliums

Mary kindly gave me some allium bulbs as I loved what she had done with them in her garden. They have just started to come up here. This inspired me to do my first ever painting of flowers and while it is not great I learnt lots thanks to Paul.

He showed us how to paint  wet on wet and the theory is great I just need to do lots more practice. First of all my background flowers were a muddy mess then they did not fade into the background. This was sorted with a glaze of very thin white paint all over and then removed from the alliums so they stand out. I am pleased with the alliums themselves and these were painted with a very fine brush in sharp strokes then lots of dots in blues, crimson and purple. For a first effort I am happy but I want to get back to painting the sea again now!

Cherry Pie

This fushia druzy agate looks just like cherries so I just used some rock crystal to bring out the colour. Sometimes just keeping it simple works best.

Monochrome

Black and white always work well together. This necklace has black lave rock and rock crystal beads held in place by illusion knots. The dangle is made using a piece of 7ml chain with beads held on with headpins. Start at the bottom of the chain.

Cunnamore Dreaming

I have completed my second painting of Cunnamore and I am very pleasded with the sea. This is the largest painting I have ever done. It was a challenge to work fast enough with the knives so that I could keep the continuity of colour. It was very messy too! I showed it to the person whose opinion I value the most and she said the colour was perfect, so yippie! I have also been invited to spend more time down there, double yippie!!

Chunky!

I love these HUGE chunks of agate. I am not sure how I will use them so I will just look at the gorgeous colours for now.

Raspberry Ice

I made this necklace with gorgeous chunks of fushia agate and rock crystal. Used fushia coloured wire too.
