Hello

Thank you for looking at my blog. My latest passion is applique which I have been doing since 2015. I love making things and learning new crafts On this blog you will see some of the things I have been working on. You will also see wonderful items created by other people. When I am not crafting I enjoy being with family and friends, singing and family history. My favourite place in the whole world is anywhere by the sea and I have to get my fix every few weeks. My favourite colour is PURPLE but I love turquoise too!

Raging Seas

Texture, texture and more texture. This is the first time I have painted rocks and after a few false starts and a bit of advice from Paul I managed to get it to look as it the sea was crashing over the rocks. Will I ever stop painting the sea? Maybe...... but not anytime soon.

Silver Links

After making the bobble necklace I had lost of bits of silver headpins left over. They made great chain links for braclets. They are a bit fiddly to do so will take some practice but here are a couple I did recently. I really like using the silver stardust beasds and have now got some smaller ones too. They add that bit of bling!

Moody Blues

Blue is not a colour that I use very often but I fell in love with these kyanite chips and have used them with a silver pendant.

Forty shades of green

My friend has bought two new green tops in the January sales so I have been playing with green agate beads. I wonder which one she will like best?

Burns Night Bling

I had to have some new earings as my hair is getting so long now so I thought I might go all the way and make some bling. I love them!

Winter Sparkle

I miss all the Christmas decorations and the sparkle so I had to make a bauble pendant to cheer myself up. It is time consuming but well worth the effort.

Blackberry Sorbet

I loved this wool in the Phildar shop in Ghent so much that I had to buy a pattern written in Dutch so I could use it. Luckily there were lots of diagrams so I was able to complete it. The wool is lucious with lots of flecks of different shades of purple.  Can't wait to let Lizzie have it to go with her Spring outfits.

Waste not, want not

I have just completed another pendant that uses the ends of eye pins so you end up with lots left over.

Question: what to do with all these pieces?
Answer: use them in a braclet to link beads together

Very delicate, I hope Katie likes it.

Purple Pearls

I love the sparkle of these freshwater pearls and the tourmaline sets them off beautifully.

Bling!

Now that my hair is getting longer I have to have some longer earings. What else but chandeliers! Very bling so I just need somewhere to wear them now. Maybe to the Burns Night next week?

The Blacksmiths' Daughter

Dad gave me some money for Christams and I wanted to make get something I could keep. I bought some amazonite and jade beads and decided to make a necklace. In the old Czech fairytale about Princess Hyacinthe, the Blacksmiths daughter, she wears a crown made of hearts which is the symbol of the blacksmith. I had to include some hearts in my design being as I too am a Blacksmiths' daughter.

Night Sky

Mary came to visit and we had a day beading together. She used some of my new blue aventurine beads with quartz chips, pearls and silver stardust spacer beads and the result looked stunning. I had a play today and made three necklaces. The beads are all 12mm with 15 silver foil lined seed beads between each larger bead.

Weaving again

I had fun with the weaving technique and was inspired by the colour of the sea at Glandore to make this necklace.
