This is my new favourite pastime. I loved doing it when Mum was alive and seeing her face light up when I gave her one of my finds was all the thanks I needed. She would often get compliments when she wore a new outfit to the Day Centre Club. She would tell her friends that I had bought it in a posh shop. After she died I stopped going because it made me cry too easily.
I now have a new reason for going and that is to search out material for my stitching. While I am doing this I find things that will be nice to wear too. Scarves are a very good find because there are lovely patterns and the rolled edges are perfect for stems. Some of the scarves get to be worn a few times before I chop into them.
Cutting into a new find is the most difficult thing. It is best done in my stitching group where I offer a piece of fabric to others and they make the first cut.
